UX Club
Student organized club

What’s This?
UX Club is a student organized club that does UX-related activities. I was one of the executives in charge of organizing said activities and sending out announcements on slack + discord to other UX majors. We met up on Fridays, discussed a weekly UX news item, and did an activity until club was over. Some of those activities ranged from designing tools with play-doh that could be used by an animal, rapid prototyping with evil design principles, and designing a floor plan for an office building based on worker’s needs.

My Process
Skills Applied
- Coming up with list of activities for the semester
- Think of a normal UX principle or task
- Give it a fun twist
- i.e. rapid prototyping, but user-unfriendly
- Finding extra activities for empty days
- Board games or party games
- Potluck (for final meetings of semester)
- Leadership
- Time management
- Communication
- Planning
Notable Activities
Evil Rapid Prototyping
I designed a shopping website that was not just user-unfriendly, but user-hostile. Littered with ads, shopping items have long titles of buzzwords, and the only way to uninstall and unsubscribe is to call a unique phone number for each service.

Explain a Game with Pictures Only
Our task for everyone was to explain the rules of a board game without using words. Our challenge at the end was to guess what the game is based on each person’s explanation.

Designing Ugly Sweaters
Design an ugly sweater for the holidays (I went above and beyond with this one).

Floor Plan Activity
Design the layout for a specific building, like an office or a mall, based on worker/customer behaviors. You continue to add to this floor plan based on waves of new criteria.
